Highgate, Northgate and Solo liquor stores selling rare blends

BC Liquor Stores in Burnaby kicks off the holiday season this weekend with the launch of their seasonal food bank fundraising campaign, annual Share-a-Bear program and Premium Spirit Release at select locations.

This year’s Premium Spirit Release will be in the stores of Highgate, Northgate and Solo, offering a selection of over 180 types of whiskeys and highly coveted spirits from around the world. The doors open at 8 a.m. on November 13 at 38 participating BCL stores (listed below).

“From collectibles to signed bottles of celebrity-approved spirits to building your own Canadian whiskey set, this year’s release offers something for everyone,” BCL Adele Shaw, category manager, said in a press release. “The selection includes limited edition whiskey, coveted tequilas, incredible rums and decadent liqueurs from around the world.”

As with previous Premium Spirit Releases, BCL held an online raffle last month where customers could enter to win the opportunity to purchase extremely rare spirits, including the Dalmore Decades collection, which is one of only 25 sets available in the world. The $ 200,000 set, which can be purchased, includes four exceptional whiskeys from 1979, 1980, 1995 and 2000.

Food Banks BC holiday fundraising campaign

BC Liquor Distribution Branch (LDB) is also launching a fundraising campaign in its BCL and BC Cannabis stores (BCCS) in support of Food Banks BC from 12 November 2021 to 1 January 2022. Funds raised by BCL and BCCS on behalf of of food banks BC is given to the food bank in the community where the funds are raised. Since April 2020, BCL and BCCS have raised more than $ 1,631,818 to Food Banks BC.

Share-a-Bear program

During the month of December, customers are invited to purchase a pair of stuffed bears for $ 15 – one to take home and a twin who will be donated to a local shelter, hospital or other charity in the same community. In many cases, customers have donated both bears or made several purchases. Nearly 700,000 bears have been donated to charities across the province since the program began in 1989.
