Man dies on DVP, believed to be hit by driver

Toronto police are investigating the death of a man following a potential collision with a driver on Don Valley Parkway Friday night.

Police responded to medical complaints just after 6 p.m. 20.30 in the area of Don Valley Parkway and Dundas Street East.

A man walked on the left shoulder of the DVP while cars swerved to avoid him. At one point, police believe he was hit.

Passers-by and doctors performed life-saving measures, but the man succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said in a tweet.

Police believe the incident was related to an incident on Munro Street where a man jumped into a woman’s car and drove off, hitting several cars and buildings. He later fled on foot.

The officers have since closed DVP in both directions.
