A recent study shows that internet trolling is common behavior for many Americans

PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG / WECP) – According to a recent survey, more than a third of Americans believe that everyone on a social platform deserves any trolling they may experience.

“Trolling” is the act of inciting someone online or writing offensive messages on the Internet. Researchers say that this behavior is most often based on anger and is typically directed at politicians.

“One in four people in the United States thinks disagreeing with someone is a good enough reason to troll them. People think that people in the public who engage in going online make you a fair play for trolling, said Shane Ryan, Global Executive Director of the Avast Foundation.

The survey showed that about a quarter of Americans admit that they are more aggressive behind a screen than they are personally.
