Evan Isshak arrested for alleged Thai heroin seizure

Half a world away, Thai police have seized 300 kilos of heroin on their way to Queensland hidden in paint drums.

Chatter on An0m – a messaging platform popular in the underworld but actually driven in secret by the FBI – about the shipment of heroin in Bangkok intercepted by the Australian Federal Police, who allegedly identified Evan Isshak as the Sydney-based buyer of the drugs.

Isshak was arrested on Thursday at his home in Edensor Park in western Sydney and charged with conspiracy to import a commercial quantity of heroin, unauthorized possession of crack dusters and a butterfly knife, possession of MDMA and failure to comply with a court order.

He was refused bail and is due to appear in the High Court on Friday.

Police will claim that Isshak was a broker or investor in the extensive attempt to import heroin.

It will be alleged that he had a number of connections in organized crime and bikie gangs, through whom he planned to sell the heroin.
