Ford drops semiconductor bomb. Adds Alliance to increase US-made chips.

A global shortage of semiconductors has limited car production throughout the year, creating volatility in production – and the stock market – for the entire car sector. Ford Motor is taking new steps to minimize the impact on the company’s operations.

Ford (ticker: F) and GlobalFoundries (GFS) announced on Thursday a collaboration on the manufacture of semiconductors for the automotive industry in the United States. The alliance shows that after their difficult 2021, car companies want more control over the supply of chips, enabling almost all the common features of new cars.
