Victoria Police find man in ‘blood pool’ after stabbing in the center, search for witnesses

The Victoria Police Department is investigating after finding a man in a “pool of blood” after a stabbing that took place on Yates Street earlier this week.

According to police, the incident took place just after 2 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16, in the 500-block of Yates Street.

BC Emergency Health Services paramedics contacted police after receiving a call for assistance because of a young man who was stabbed.

Police say the young man was stabbed in the head, arm and hands, and when officers arrived at the scene, they found the man lying in a pool of blood with potentially life-threatening injuries.

When the officers arrived, first aid was provided to the man by the shelter staff. Once the site was secured, paramedics were able to act quickly, provide emergency first aid and drive the victim to the hospital.

After receiving treatment, the victim is now in stable condition and his injuries and is considered non-life threatening.

VicPD’s Forensic Identification Section (FIS) attended to document the scene, and detectives with the Investigative Services Division (ISD) Major Crime Unit continue to investigate this incident.

At this time, Victoria Police are looking for witnesses or others with surveillance footage of the area to learn more about the incident.
