Proton is teaming up with Maxis to implement 5G use cases at the Tanjung Malim plant

Proton has partnered with Maxis to implement a 5G utility case at national automaker Tanjung Malim’s assembly plant with network installations in early October. The collaboration supports Proton City’s continuous development as a model for smart city, while emphasizing Maxis’ commitment to delivering the best 5G innovation and solutions to businesses.

According to an official release, Maxis will manage the end-to-end services for several IoT (Internet of Things) solutions at Proton’s Tanjung Malim facility, where the use case is dependent on a custom-built 5G network.

Among the implemented solutions include smart safety systems to track and ensure the safety of cars leaving the production line, as well as an augmented reality / virtual reality remote support and maintenance system. The latter allows Proton engineers to communicate with international business partners in real time to troubleshoot technical issues and ensure production quality.
