Xbox Boss teases several studio acquisitions

Microsoft is one of the richest companies in the world with a metric ton of cash on hand for investment. Lately, a significant portion of that money has been given to Xbox boss Phil Spencer to acquire studios. For this purpose, Spencer has added Bethesda, Playground Games, Obsidian, Ninja Theory and more to the Xbox Game Studios family, which has meant that it has added IP such as. Fall out, The older ones roll, DOM, and Wolfenstein to his name. That said, according to a wealth of reports, Xbox is not done acquiring studios, and in a recent interview, Spencer more or less confirmed these reports, noting that Xbox has had “a lot of good conversations” that have left Spencer ” encouraged. “

“I talked a little bit about some of the kind of genres and areas that I think we should continue to invest in,” Spencer said. “That does not mean we will not invest in other things if the opportunity arises, but there are a lot of good talks going on and I am encouraged.”

Spencer, of course, does not go into detail. In the last few months, there have been rumors that Microsoft has spoken to people like IO Interactive (Hitman), Avalanche Studios (Just because), Sega and a few others. However, these are only rumors. While Spencer confirms that there are talks about acquisitions, he does not say who these talks are with.

If Microsoft is aiming for smaller acquisitions, there is a good chance that the announcements will be kept until E3 2021. However, larger acquisitions like Sega are impossible to keep secret, and may be announced more quickly as a result.
