Cowboy Bebop actor Eden Perkins explores fan-favorite Radical Edwards’ debut in the Netflix live-action remake and what it means to them.

The radical Edward is one of Cowboy Bebopmost beloved characters. In Netflix’s adaptation, Ed is played by newcomer actor Eden Perkins, who discussed what it was like to debut Ed in live action.

Perkins told Still Watching Netflix that they are “very excited that people will get to know Ed in the future and see what she’s like.” They also described their time on the set as “incredible”, adding that “even though there is only one scene, she [Radical Edward] packs a punch of personality. “

“Getting in costume for the first time, it’s so cool,” Perkins continued. “I love her costume so much. It’s very free and moveable, I suppose, which suits Ed very much. And the wig, the wig is so cool. It’s so brittle, and I desperately want to touch it, but I do not. “Because otherwise it’s going to ruin it. But it’s such a cool costume.” They also revealed that the filming of Ed’s scenes only took one night, called Cowboy Bebop indicated as “fantastic”.

In the original anime, released in 1998, Radical Edward debuts in episode 9, “Jamming with Edward”. The character is presented as a 13-year-old hacker from Earth who helps Spike, Faye and Jet with an AI bounty. Following fan speculation that Radical Edward would not be featured in the live-action adaptation, Netflix released footage showing Perkins’ Radical Ed swaying in an alley before waving and disappearing.

Perkins opened up about their experience as Ed and said, “Ed is such an amazing character. She’s just so incredibly lively and she just brings energy wherever she goes. When she watches all the scenes from Ed’s anime, she’s just she’s a great character and I’m really relating to her and it was so incredibly exciting to be cast as her.One of my favorite Ed moments from anime is definitely when there’s a bounty on Bebop, and he’s mad at Ein and Ed just comes down, hits him in the head and starts biting him. It’s really amazing. “

The first season of Netflix Cowboy Bebop, currently streaming on Netflix, has been met with conflicting emotions from fans and negative reviews from critics. It’s still unknown if Netflix will renew the series for a season 2.
