Is there a Vancouver Santa Claus Parade in 2021?

For the second year in a row, the coronavirus pandemic has canceled yet another holiday tradition for Vancouver.

After 16 years of beginning the holiday season with marching bands, choirs, floaters and community groups performing for 300,000 people, the parade was only canceled in 2020. Earlier this month, the parade organizers announced that the parade would not continue this year either.

“Due to the persistent effects of the pandemic, the Vancouver Santa Claus Parade will not be held in 2021,” the organizers wrote in a post on social media. “We look forward to returning in 2022, where we can better ensure the health and safety of all involved.”

Although the parade does not take place this year, locals are encouraged to continue to support the parade’s benefactors, including the Greater Vancouver Food Bank and the CKNW Kids’ Fund.
