This is the man accused of murdering a grandfather in the center of Manchester

It is the man who is accused of the murder of a 60-year-old near Printworks in the center of Manchester.

Callum Crosbie, 22, from Newcastle, has been charged with murder and possession of crack cocaine.

When he appeared via video link this morning (November 24) at Manchester Crown Court, Mr Crosbie spoke only to confirm his name.

Police were called around 8pm on Saturday (November 20) for a report of a riot on Dantzic Street near Printworks.

A 60-year-old – who passed by – was allegedly assaulted and died on the spot.

He has since been identified as grandfather Kevin Wood.

No pleas were raised during the hearing, and both the prosecution and the defense discussed legal issues.

A preliminary and preparatory hearing was set for January 14, 2022, and a preliminary trial date was set for May 16, 2022.

Crosbie from Colebridge Close was remanded in custody until the next court hearing.
