Updates on Alvin Kamara, Mark Ingram

Heading into a prime-time Thanksgiving matchup, what’s the latest on New Orleans Saints’ injury report, which has included both Alvin Kamara and Mark Ingram? Let’s take a look at the latest updates regarding the status of both Kamara and Ingram, as well as what other Saints players are listed this week.

New Orleans Saints Injury Report: Are Alvin Kamara and Mark Ingram both question marks for Thursday?

Kamara has been on the Saints’ injury report with a knee injury going back to week 10. RB has missed each of the last two weeks and was a non-participant both Monday and Tuesday. Kamara was then not seen during the media part of the training on Wednesday and has been excluded in week 12. Given the short week (followed by extended rest), it always seemed logical that the Saints would give Kamara another week to rest .

That decision, however, was made tougher by the fact that Ingram appeared on the Saints’ injury report with a knee injury on Tuesday. Ingram did not participate in the training at all on Tuesday. Ingram was present at the media part of the training on Wednesday, participated in stretching, but did not appear to participate fully. Ingram is doubtful for the Saints Week 12 matchup with the Buffalo Bills.

What other RB options do the Saints have?

The Saints’ list includes two other running backs in Dwayne Washington and Tony Jones Jr. New Orleans activated Jones from injured reserve prior to Week 11 when they ruled out Kamara. However, he only played 10 snaps and had 3 carries.

Washington has been used sparingly this season. He has only 4 carriers and 2 goals in 2021. Of these 4 urgent attempts, 3 have come in the last two weeks, as well as 1 of the goals. However, Washington has only played 8 snaps in total during Kamara’s absence.

The other name to see is Ty Montgomery, who missed Week 11 but is expected to return for Thanksgiving. Montgomery appeared to be the Saints’ second fullback in Week 10 before an early injury forced him out of the game. His return will give New Orleans another opportunity to turn to if Kamara and / or Ingram are limited.

Additionally, the Saints could decide to remove either Josh Adams or Malcolm Perry from their training team. They have until kl. 16.00 ET on Thursday before both RBs are eligible to play in the Thanksgiving game.

Who else is on the Saints’ injury report for week 12?

Outside of the RB situation, the Saints have a number of concerns. On the attack, OT Ryan Ramczyk (knee) did not participate in training on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday and has been ruled out in week 12.

Left tackle Terron Armstead (knee / shoulder) was restricted on all three days and goes into doubt on Thursday. Montgomery (hand) was listed as limited Monday, but was a full participant Tuesday and Wednesday. At QB, both Trevor Siemian (throwing hand) and Taysom Hill (foot) are also listed on the injury report. Montgomery, Semien and Hill do not bear a designation for gameday.

On the defensive side of the ball, there are serious questions about the availability of two of their defensive linemen. Both Marcus Davenport (shoulder) and Tanoh Kpassagnon (ankle) were listed as non-participants on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Both have been ruled out for Thursday’s match.
