Renaud Muselier, president of the Paca region, on Thursday presented the 1st regional meeting to combat violence against women in Marseille. One way to initiate an action plan based on concrete measures, such as the establishment of 1,000 additional emergency housing units.

At the national level, violence increased by 10% in 2020, according to the Ministry of the Interior. 220,000 women say they are exposed to violence every year, as is Lisa *, 22, who managed to escape her tormenting spirit and now lives in a refuge in Marseille.
For five years, the number of complaints has increased by 50% in Bouches-du-Rhône. 600 are deposited each year in the department, of which 70% in Marseille. 51 serious danger phones were assigned, as well as 16 anti-reconciliation bracelets.
“Sometimes there is a danger to the victims, it is necessary to make them safe, to offer them housing, a custody solution for the children and very quickly to launch the investigation to find the perpetrators.“explains Frédérique Camilleri, Chief of Police in Bouches-du-Rhône.
The President of the Region Renaud Muselier presented the regional conference to combat violence against women this Thursday morning, and brings together all the actors involved in this cause. The region has promised to set aside almost 10 million euros for it.
Initiatives will be launched in 2022, such as the creation of accommodation for victims, the creation of bus stops at the request of the person on the buses or the implementation of prevention and information actions in all high schools in the region.
“We are the third region in France in terms of the number of calls from abused women, in difficulty or in despair, said Renaud Muselier. The idea is to make it one of the region’s main causes of school bullying. (…) We release 10 million euros to find accommodation, press call buttons. emergencies in applications “.
In total, 10,000 women will be able to press a special button to call for help. An application will also allow victims to stop on buses whenever they want, as close as possible to their homes between two stops.
All initiatives will be presented at the plenary session on 17 December.

According to the latest figures from the government, 60 accommodation places have been created since 2017, 3,000 serious emergency telephones have been deployed and 88,286 police officers and gendarmes have received training to better receive and support victims.
Jean Castex announced new initiatives for Thursday “strengthen the protection of victims and the fight against violence”. “1,000 new accommodations will be opened in 2022, with funding similar to that planned for 2021 to enable quality support”.
“A total of 9,000 seats will be dedicated to welcoming women victims of violence by the end of 2022”, assured Matignon. In addition, 5,000 tserious hazards will be made available in 2022, units “qwhich are proven and effective in protecting the victims of their attacker “, according to Matignon.
The Prime Minister also announced the launch of one “week of equality between girls and boys (…) from next year in school, the week of March 8”.
“It will give teachers and students the opportunity to mobilize around strong projects on equality between girls and boys and to understand the different facets”.
