Jessie J discussed her recent abortion in an emotional speech to fans during a show Wednesday night at The Hotel Cafe in Los Angeles.

“I was told a long time ago that I could not have children and I never believed it. I do not believe lies, ”she said video clips shared by fans on social media.

A few hours before she went on stage, Jessie revealed via Instagram that she lost her baby, telling followers she “feared the thought of getting through” her concert in LA after learning that doctors could no longer find a heartbeat .

Jessie thanked concert-goers for helping her feel less alone while grieving over her loss of pregnancy.

“I wanted to be here tonight because the one thing I believe in the most in this whole universe, besides surface conversations and Instagram and the internet, is being human and being vulnerable and being genuine,” she said.

The “award-winning” singer then reflected on the hard year she has had, citing hearing loss in December 2020, which led to a diagnosis of Ménière’s disease. She also admitted that she lost her voice at one point, which she said was “f-king terrible” as she “did not know who [she] was without ”performing.

“And then I lost my baby,” she added gloomily, though she expressed a desire to remain positive despite the setbacks.

“I know I’m going to make it, because there really is nothing else to choose in the way I live.”

Fans later expressed support for Jessie on social media and applauded her for her vulnerability on stage.
