Viral TikTok shows woman using lock to avoid NYC Subway Shovers

Recent incidents of underground shocks – such as this unprovoked attack – have raised fears among some straphangers that MTA stations are unsafe.

Crime on subways actually dropped in October, according to MTA officials.

But still, Vela’s video exploited concerns that people waiting for subway trains could fall victim to random attacks.

In the video, she stood chained to a pole and said she would wait there until a train arrives.

“There’s no one pushing me,” she said.
