The COVID-19 pandemic has led to delays in the Barbados Accreditation Council’s certification of some medical schools.

CEO Lisa Gale admitted it during their virtual trade show yesterday, but said she hoped the issue could be fixed as soon as possible.

Gale said that although they faced some challenges in conducting assessments of medical schools due to the pandemic, they were still committed to ensuring that they could work with educational institutions to prepare students for the world stage.

“One example is the delay in completing assessments for our medical schools, which is currently affecting the Council’s ability to complete its re-registration process. As the only body responsible for quality assurance and quality improvement in post-secondary and tertiary education and training in Barbados, adaptation has not been an easy task, “Gale said. (TG)
