Ottawa weather: Rain turns to snow on Friday, up to 5 cm possible

OTTAWA – It’s going to be a messy commute in Ottawa today – rain showers will turn to snow when temperatures drop this afternoon.

Environment Canada’s weather forecast for the capital calls for a 40 percent chance of rain this morning. Temperatures will drop to -3 C this afternoon, and that rain will turn to 5 cm of snow, which is expected to fall.

It will feel more like -10 C with the wind cooling this afternoon and the temperatures will continue to drop during the day. The snow ends early in the evening, but there is a 30 percent chance of showers overnight.

Environment Canada has issued a winter weather guide for parts of the Ottawa Valley today – expect up to 8 inches of snow in some regions.

Sunday there is a view of more cloudy skies with a temperature of -3 C.
