In his statement on the side of the signing of the Comprehensive Agreement for Economic Cooperation between the United Arab Emirates and the Republic of Mauritius, he added: “In addition to the 18 agreements that were signed and completed, we hope to complete 5-7 more new ones. annual agreements”.

He stated that there are opportunities to enter and expand the African market through the Mauritius portal.

For his part, Manish Gobin, the Mauritian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade, said after signing the agreement: “We need to establish customs regulations to activate the agreement, and that will happen in the next three months.”

He added: “There is a need to establish some specific logistics services, in terms of goods, and in the same way, in terms of commercial services, it is necessary to take some time to put the regulations into effect”.

For his part, Juma Al-Kait, Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Economy for International Trade Affairs and Chief Negotiator, stated the importance of the agreement as he works to remove trade barriers and customs duties on most traded goods. between the two countries, and removes barriers related to service providers, noting that almost 65% of the Mauritian economy depends on services, making UAE service providers the beneficiaries of the agreement.
