FedEx on Tuesday suspended its domestic express freight services due to staff shortages as cases of the omicron variant of coronavirus increased.
The delivery company said it is suspending the economy of FedEx express shipping, including FedEx two-day shipping and FedEx three-day shipping services.
International economy freight pickup, which had been suspended earlier, resumed Monday, FedEx added.
Last month, the company had warned that increasing cases of the omicron variant had caused staff shortages and delays in shipments transported by air.
Severe winter storms around the country and staff shortages had forced several U.S. airlines to cancel flights last month.
U.S. coronavirus deaths rose by at least 2,266 Monday to a total of 890,049 compared to 887,783 the day before, according to a Reuters statement.
