Immediately after His Eminence arrived in Abu Dhabi, the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, received His Eminence the Grand Imam. He welcomed His Eminence to his second country, the Emirates, wishing His Eminence continued health and prosperity.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed increasing cooperation between the important authorities of the United Arab Emirates, Al-Azhar Al-Sharif and the Council of Muslim Elders, to consolidate common human values and establish a culture of coexistence, dialogue, civilization and peace. between the different cultures and peoples of the world, based on the principles of the “Human Brotherhood” document signed by Sheikh Al-Azhar and Pope Francis, Pope of the Catholic Church, in February 2019 in Abu Dhabi.
The meeting touched on the initiative of the Council of Muslim Elders, which is being considered to launch under the title “Alliance of Religions for Development and Peace” to increase the role of religious scholars and symbols in contributing to development and peace efforts in the world. His Eminence appreciated the UAE’s interest in the affairs of the Islamic nation, as an extension of its historical positions to support its brother, the main of which is the support of the Palestinian cause and the brotherly Palestinian people at various levels.
His Eminence mentioned the efforts of Al-Azhar and the Council of Muslim Elders to promote the values of peace, coexistence and human brotherhood, in addition to combating hate speech and extremism, and working to activate the role of religious scholars and scholars. to face human challenges.
