The Chairman of the Cyber ​​Security Council of the Government of the UAE, Dr. Mohammed Al Kuwaiti, has confirmed that the UAE ranks second in cyber security and ranks fifth in the world.

He said that the Council is currently working to deliver three new policies supporting the cyber security system by the end of this year, in order to strengthen the UAE’s position as a global center for advanced technology and artificial intelligence technologies.
He explained that the new policies being worked on by the Council are: “cloud information and the protection of the data therein, the security of the Internet of Things and the centers of cyber operations”, and he stated that the executive rules of the “encryption” law are expected. will be given before the end of the year, which is responsible for establishing the main standards to ensure… Data transmitted from one entity to another according to quantum systems.
He added: “The UAE has the skills and capabilities that enable it to become a major global data center. Hence, the importance of establishing laws and policies that support the governance of procedures in this strategic sector, in addition to ending regionalism in the region. and international collaborations with the public and private sector.”
He pointed out that the UAE is an inspiring model for many countries in the world that want to develop their cyber system, especially in the field of data, given the rapid development of the advanced technology sector and artificial intelligence techniques.
The chairman of the Cyber ​​Security Council said: “The digital transformation of the UAE included all sectors of the country, such as health, energy, education, aviation and other strategic sectors”, adding that “the digital transformation of these sectors needed an advance”. cyber security system to protect cyberspace from potential cyber attacks. In particular, the development of artificial intelligence technologies and their use by various parties, supported by different countries or organizations, artificial intelligence is used to conduct public surveys to identify digital gaps. infrastructure of vital sectors, and try to enter from the main domains used by ministries and agencies.
He therefore explained the importance of protecting these organizations from threats and hacks that could lead to data leaks, impersonation of personalities and intellectual property, and access to critical digital infrastructure and security records.
Dr. Muhammad Al-Kuwaiti said the UAE is witnessing malicious cyber-attacks targeting strategic sectors, especially the financial sector, with the aim of jeopardizing state security or obtaining financial information to blackmail a specific person or country. the goal of obtaining money illegally, However, he stressed that the UAE cyber system continues to deter and repel such attacks, identify hackers and continue to deal with them according to the highest international standards.
He added that national cyber defense and deterrence systems rely on skilled round-the-clock capabilities to protect our digital borders through highly advanced systems based on artificial intelligence, automation and big data analysis to identify patterns of such cyber attacks. repel, frustrate and resist.
Al-Kuwaiti said that most cyber attacks cross borders and continents, hence the importance of establishing Gulf, Arab and international cooperation, as the Cyber ​​Ministerial Committee was created at the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and at the Arab level. A Ministerial Committee was formed based on cooperation in this essential field. Additionally, these partnerships help build the Gulf and Arab cyber security system to deter and deter potential cyber attacks that would affect the security of our Arab countries. Al Kuwaiti emphasized that the UAE is safe from such cyber attacks, noting that the UAE’s advanced infrastructure has helped attract major international companies, especially in the fields of artificial intelligence, entrepreneurship and advanced technology, to launch their businesses. The head of the Cybersecurity Council said: “The rate of cyberattacks in the government sector alone, excluding the private sector, reaches more than 50,000 cyberattacks per day, which increased to more than 200,000 attacks per day in the last months of March and April. Due to the geopolitical situation in the region.”
He added that most of the cyberattacks the country has seen are “loss of service” attacks originating from various infrastructures around the world, targeting certain domains, in addition to redirecting emails to certain state institutions, with the intention of deceiving, deceiving. , and social engineering to open any of these links, then how to leak ransomware and exploit this data, and many mechanisms have been put in place to prevent attacks against UAE.
He stated that the UAE wants to achieve the first place in the world in the Cyber ​​Security Index, which monitors the improvement of the level of awareness of the importance of cyber security in 193 countries around the world, and which is expected to be issued by International Telecommunications. United Nations before the end of this year.
He said the council works under the vision “We are the Emirates 2031”, which forms an inspiring national map for various sectors, and aims for the UAE to be among the top three countries in the world in the Cyber ​​Security Readiness Index. thus, improving the country’s position among the top 10 countries in the world in the Human Development Index and improving the condition of the cities, it is among the 10 best cities in the UAE in terms of quality of life.
He added that the UAE is ranked second regionally and fifth globally in the cyber security index, which reflects the advanced levels of awareness of the importance of cyber security in the UAE thanks to the continuous efforts to work in the five main domains of the UAE. the EAC has been evaluated and classified in the cyber security index… All of these are advanced centers that “unify qualified staff, capacity building, modern technologies, governance and key policies, state policies and key leadership. the concept of cyber security, in addition to partnerships and collaborations with countries of the world, to deter, monitor and provide alerts about cyber attacks.” The UAE’s successful experiences in the field of cyber security are being exported to countries around the world.
