Nine weeks after Israel launched its war on Gaza, the United Nations is facing increasing challenges in providing aid to the besieged and bombed enclave.
Israel’s attack has displaced 85% of the population. About 1.3 million people are crammed into UN facilities there, four times their capacity. These facilities have also been the target of frequent Israeli attacks.
Furthermore, the killing of humanitarian aid workers in airstrikes has further complicated the crisis.
This situation raises concerns about the UN’s ability to operate effectively in Gaza.
